What was your first salary?

If you’re new to the workforce, I know what you’re thinking -- that you’re so broke right now, you’re just trying to get by. If you’re not so new to the workforce, salaries vary. You might be feeling the same way, are somewhat comfortable or above and beyond a salary you ever expected. And since many of us are still reflecting on the last decade and making 2020 goals for ourself, I wanted to ask a throwback question! My first salary was $30k/year and I was in media... FGB’ers, what was your first salary and what industry were you in?

I remember telling our (very well paid) interns about the days I used to intern for "school credit". Ha!

Ahhh... As a babysitter back in the 80's I made $1.00 an hour - for multiple children. I was thrilled when a parent paid $1.50 or $2.00 an hour! My first job out of college was about $28,000 back in 2000. I thought it was pretty dang good at the time!

Ha, another Army officer here (as my first salaried job -- lots of hourly jobs before that). I made $33,396 base salary (but military does get tax free housing allowances on top of salary FYI).

I’m sure tax free housing helps but I wish Army Officers would be making more for such an important role!

When I entered the work force my first job paid 26k a year, today, that same job is 38k. I don't mean 'an equivalent job' I mean the same job as an Army officer. It was with a college degree, and specialized training.
