Not only am I disgusted but reading some messages on twitter has sent chills down my spine reading "we can easily rape her..." According to shethepeople one of the boys posted an apology saying "I am sorry. I have a whole life ahead of me. I don’t want some stupid testosterone-fueled decisions to spoil it”. Others used the justification that they weren't active in the group. How does that matter? You were still a part of that group. You weren't active, but you neither did anything to stop it either. Rape culture, misogyny, vulgarity, objectifying women is becoming a mass toxic behavior. Since most Indian parents believe that their sons will carry on their legacy. I think it's high time to check what your sons are doing and if as a parent you're grooming them to be decent humans. 14 year olds are talking about gang rapes. How horrific is this! What are your thoughts on this?

As a mother of a 9-yr-old girl, I am concerned. There are so many things to consider: 1. Get therapy for all the boys 2. They might have other social media accounts 3. The way we have fraud detection in technology, we should have obscenity check in social media too. I mean why is it so easy to form such groups in social media - teens or no teens? 4. Talk about sexuality as a way of life, not contradiction. This is the toughest. As in how will you explain to a teen or adult that being sexual is no crime, but imposing oneself on others is. 5. They say talk about sex. I think we should also talk about the seriousness of rapes.

This is awful! I'm so sorry you had to see that. Is there any way you can report it?

This is an absolute nightmare and a sad commentary on our society that includes children plotting acts of violence against girls and women. I grew up with a "boys will be boys" creed and, despite being a child of the women's movement, have seen very little progress in how girls/women are viewed by boys/men. It's almost as if we're "sport." Chasing down a girl or woman with the intent to rape is just horrific. But it is becoming, unfortunately, widely accepted behavior. Other cultures make young men accountable for their inappropriate and harmful actions. Not ours, though. I don't know what the answer is...
