Are you still dressing for work?

Now that I'm WFH I've been wearing sweatpants and comfier clothes most days, but I know some people are still dressing as if they're going into work. What are you doing?

We are all WFH which is nice. I still put on makeup for video calls, because I'm vain. I generally wear yoga pants around the house, and a tank top NO BRA ain't nobody got time for that at home, along with a selection of fuzzy grandpa sweaters. We do Zoomgov calls, and for those, I'll wear makeup (not a full face, just enough to make my eyes look like they're, well, actually in my face) along with a nicer top/cardigan than my usual Slop Around The House™ stuff I wear. I almost always wear my (long) hair up - at home and around the office - so that hasn't changed. I know some articles say to wear full-bore work clothes when you're working from home, but I generally wear heels and suits to work and no WAY am I wearing that around the house.

Ahahahaha you're not vain! I'm still wearing makeup too :) It honestly makes me feel more alive lol. And take advantage of not having to wear heels and a suit! I admire anyone who still dresses up, but there's no way I could do it

I am not dressing up to WFH. Luckily, my conference calls are not video calls. I am sticking to a regular schedule and trying to stick to my usual workday routines.

I shower and brush my hair. I’m somewhat presentable for a surprise conference call, but I am taking advantage of being able to be comfy. While my office has a relaxed dress code (pretty much anything but pjs), I try to look professional/casual when I show up

Same here! I've been rocking my hair in a messy bun a lot but whenever I have important calls I make sure it's done nice

I am an educator that is working from home at the moment and I still have my morning routine which includes getting dressed for work. The only piece of clothing that I have not worn are shoes and that is simply because my slipper socks from Pudus are some of the coziest comfy socks EVER. When 3pm hits (that is when my school day is over) I then get back into my comfy clothes.

I have been working from home for just over a year now. I set my alarm every weekday and follow my basic out if office routine. Shower, hair, makeup and into my office by 9am. I break for lunch, eating outside of my office. I also shut down around 5:00. I was a little concerned at first about not "dressing" for work but leggings and t-shirts have become my norm. I actually find that I'm more focused with less distractions.

I like the fact that I can make one less decision by not having to pick out an outfit :) But yes, sticking to my morning routine has been really vital

I always work from home and, with that statement, I'll point out that you ARE going to work. A crucial aspect of working from home is the realization that nothing else has changed. It is still work, it still needs doing, there are still deadlines, etc. You just get to dress more comfortably, take breaks more or less when you feel like it, listen to music without headphones, etc. Wear whatever best supports your ability to concentrate. I only dress "professionally" when I'm leaving the house to meet someone and for most other trips out--the latter b/c I know that there is a possibility that I will end up discussing my bath & body products or wax melts with someone. :)

So important to remember! And you run your own business? That's so exciting :)

I still go to a workplace and am not remotely connected at home. Therefore, I still dress appropriately as a sense of normalcy with the same condition.

Super comfy clothes. Some days I don't change out of my pjs until lunchtime. There's very little chance I'll need to show up for a video conference call though.

Nope, I dress for comfort. Having worked from home for several years, and now for a company that encourages comfort dressing even in the office, I am just as productive in sweats as in a suit.

I’ve been a remote worker for 15 years. I STRONGLY recommend dressing at least in jeans and a work appropriate top for a video meeting. Doing hair and light makeup ( if you normally do). I even keep a pair of heels under my desk to ground myself when I’m on important client calls. Do I wear yoga pants, now? Yes but I have 15 years of experience in virtual working. Today, I’m in jeans and a blouse. If you look like you are working you feel like it and your kids will get the message too. Mom is working.

While I am more casual around the house than I would be in the office, I have been known to put on a blazer (and yes the heels that no one can see - I completely do that too) when I am on an important call to get the "feel" right and get into the mindset. I agree it is great to feel comfortable, but I want to be sure I am able to tap easily into my "work-self". I have carefully cultivated this confident part of my persona and the clothes & accessories (as much as we like to say otherwise) can be part of it, signaling to me and my family that I'm in work mode.

Ah that's such a good point about showing your kids that you're in work mode!
