Looking for something new and fulfilling

I was a stay at home parent for the last 11 years. I ran my own dog walking business during that time. Starting about a year ago, I have applied for so many jobs, willing to start at any level just to get in the door, and I've gotten so few interviews. I worked as an office manager of a small spa and I'm currently doing reception and insurance work at a Dental office. I need something more, I am applying to jobs daily and still getting zero interviews. It's been incredibly frustrating. Any tips or similar experiences?

I second the LinkedIn connections! Re connect with people you used to work with, try to connect with people who work at companies you're really interested in. I'd suggest targeting more where you want to work and specific roles vs sending so many resumes. That way you can tweak your CV and/or cover letter for each to better highlight your skills for that role (more work but well worth it). Additionally, maybe doing something to stand out such as creating a visual presentation about why you want to work for that company and the value you can provide. I know this is more work but will likely lead to better results. Best of luck!!

I was you! I dedicated about 1-2 hours/day on sites like this and LinkedIn connecting with people that might have some advice or could easily coach me through an updated (and ATS system!) resume that highlighted my skills. People were really generous in reaching out to speak for 15 minutes and offer support and advice. You have a lot to offer from how much you have balanced and achieved already! Now get word out to your network (which you should keep building on LinkedIn by inviting others to connect with a short note)- and let them know what type of skills you want to highlight and leverage in your next role! Good luck- we are rooting for your success!

I wish I could offer advice but I can offer support. I feel very much the same way. What I am trying to do and would recommend is to get out into the world, do what you love personally (hobbies and whatnot) and meet as many people as you can. In a referral based job market I see more people having success in landing fulfilling positions when they have built the network to invite those kinds of opportunities directly. I too have applied for countless jobs and landed no interviews but have hope that some personal reference will pan out.

Don't make it hard. People literally sent me their calendars and let me pick their brains for 15 minutes and I would do the same. Each call offered me some wisdom or another connection. Good luck!
