Any tips on how to get my foot in the door in advertising industry? I just got out of college.

Congratulations! If you consider that everything is a relationship (professional and person), I'd suggest looking at ways start building those relationships in your industry. A few ideas that come to mind for me are: 1. In the bigger picture, this is a great opportunity to get comfortable asking, asking, asking! Ask for informational interviews, ask for feedback on any interviews you go to, ask for support from the connections you make, ask for mentors...you get the idea. One of the biggest mistakes I see women make in their careers is not asking for enough...for the money, for the connections, for the support, for the promotion, for the big project...if you master the art of asking and getting used to hearing "no", along with the "yes" you will be far ahead of the game. 2. Finding companies that seem like a match for you and the work you want to do, identify a few key people you would like to connect with and reaching out to for informational interviews. 3. Use the heck out of whatever career resources your school offers...this may seem obvious, but so many people don't dig in and see all of the resources that are already in front of them. 4. Start attending networking meetings, Meet Up groups, local events where you can meet folks in your industry. Be sure to be clear on what type of role you looking for, get comfortable talking about your education and who you are/what you have to offer to an organization. Get yourself known in the circles where your people hang out, become a familiar face. 5. As you make connections and build relationships, be sure to offer as much as you ask (or offer more!). In other words, be sure that you are offering the same support that you are asking for from others. Follow up on conversations, do what you say you'll do (if you offer to make a connection, for example) and tend to the relationship so it can grow. Building genuine relationships will benefit you in ways you can't even imagine! I hope this helps...be sure to keep us updated!

Networking!!!! Look through LinkedIn to see who are your connection and how they can connect you. Also, can you use your college/university resources to help you connect with school alums in particular companies? Schools can be very helpful with assisting with finding new employment. Good luck!
