I was hired 2 years ago as a fully remote employee (I live 3 hours from the office) and during that time frame have had a promotion (about 9 months ago) and my performance reviews have been completely positive. I consistently receive good feedback from my clients and my peers on my performance. Though my hours are 8-5 I work most days until 6 or later and also put in time on weekends when necessary. Now due to nothing more than others wanting to work from home who were not hired for remote positions my company has asked if I will commit to coming in one day a week they will pay for a hotel the night before. I would not have a problem if this was due to performance or in relation to training. I currently make sure I am in the office at least 3-4 times a quarter. This seems excessive to me as I also travel one week a month for clients. While one day may not seem like a lot I would be leaving my home and family after a full work day and driving 3 hours to work in the office one day and then face a 3 hour drive back home. This seems unreasonable to me. Looking for thoughts or others who have had this occu.
