Is requesting feedback having positive or negative effects?
So I am frequently trying to get feedback from the people I work with. I have made some interesting discoveries regarding the reactions this triggers.
1. Some are impressed by my "mission" to constantly challenge myself and improving on this
2. Some seem to see me as a mentee / "lower being" and start explaining me all sorts of things, except answering my initial question
3. Some do not get why I am even asking this and start questioning my ability to evaluate myself
Now I would like to get YOUR feedback on this. I do not want to change this mindset of myself, but seeing these psychological effects in my colleagues I wonder if there is a better way to approach this. Also I would like to know how would you respond if a colleague would ask you this? Have you maybe even made similar discoveries? Or opposite ones?
