Can't tell if I really want to quit or just going through a tough time

I work for a pretty big company and I'm proud to be working for the brand. However, the people I directly work with are not great. Has anyone been in a spot where they like their role but the negativity between the team might not be worth the job? I'm so torn!

I recently was in this same situation. Crappy manager & nasty coworkers. Finally had enough & quit.

Recently I was dealing with a manager who is the definition of excess bulk that can't be shed in large companies (poor quality engineer, poor quality manager, sexist, racist, but hadn't done anything fire-able in a company where it's hard to get fired). After speaking with his manager and HR a few times, I realized nothing was going to change. I do enjoy my job, though, and I wasn't ready to leave. I chose to take a new opportunity in another department. If there's an interesting learning opportunity or open position within your company, don't be afraid to apply for it - even if you're only "sort of" qualified. The worst they can do is say no. If working for this company still gives you pride, there may be ways you can continue working there but get a change in environment. Don't be afraid to look outside the company for opportunities, too, however. Apply for a dream job or two and see what happens.

I was literally asking myself the same exact question a few months ago and I ended up quitting my job because of the unfulfilling work environment. I think an important question to ask is whether or not you feel your manager and the people around you are truly INVESTING the time and the energy to make you the best you can be at this particular job at this particular company. Unless your job is super specialized, I'm sure you can find another similar role at any other company with better people. If you have expressed your feelings to your manager or HR and she/he was either unresponsive or mansplaining, then maybe try to switch teams or maybe it's time to get another gig. I went through every avenue I could think of at my old job (talking to managers, trying to compromise team responsibilities, switching teams) and ultimately I realized the company wasn't thinking or acting in my favor nor were they going to invest resources in my talent and work, so I left.

I totally agree with the fact that its unlikely you can't find another place where you will have a similar role but with people who support and care more about you. The grass can seem greener and I truly think it can be but be careful when you interview to ask insightful questions and learn about the culture of the new place you'll go since that's such an important part of the reason you're thinking of leaving!

I feel like we've all been at a point where we don't like our jobs for different reasons. I think first... maybe consider options for making the job work. Are you sure you really need to quit or could you just be going through a tough time?
