Age shamming a bitter truth

Age shaming People nowadays talking about body shaming and all the different kind of depressing things people go through . But the most recent one which hit me was age shamming. At the end of the day one can go to gym or have diet to get their bodies in shape but how a person can reverse his or age . I am 32 and the nost common thing i listen from my family friends and relatives is 'umar ho rahi hai' . And the other one is the body will not be fertile so get married. This breaks my soul apart each time as if the sole motive of a girl in India is to get married and use the body to give birth thats it. Isn't it unfair? If the person got free will marry anyone so why is it so difficult to understand that getting married at any point or stage of life is as common as getting a right job. Why we are forced to get married to any random ones just because that age is passing. This makes a chaos for the everyone around . Women are age shamed a lot more than men. I have seen and heard a lot of men and (unfortunately) women too make comments like, “she doesn’t dress her age” or “that lipstick was too loud for her age” for women who commit the mistake of living their life to the fullest even after passing their proverbial ripened age of late 30s. Why an individual is supposed to follow the hollow norms ? Age shaming is used as a tool to shush women who have opinions Msy be more than holding onto looks, it is the fear of worth being re-evaluated that scares women. Maybe it is the fear of losing the right to have and share an opinion without being called an “irrelevant attention seeking” old woman. I would like to say this loud to all the women out there. Stop thinking about how you look . What's your age. Do things which makes you happy as an individual . Share you opinions . Voice you threats. Don't be a slave to the norms of the society . Live your life. And Yes, so to all the shammers out there, take a good look at yourself; your body, your appearance, your age and stop judging.  The only shame in shaming is being a shammer. When I broke up with a long-term partner at 30, my mother's reaction was "you should be married by now". I ignored her, travelled the world, got a Masters Degree and had many great life experiences. Now I'm 40 and in a happy relationship, but still not married LOL.

I'm in my 40's and mostly don't care what other people think so much anymore. :) Someone said to me, "You're 44?! You look so good for your age." I told her, "I look good. Period." I wear my hair, clothes, and attitude exactly how I want to. Thank you for the call out to all of us to stop shaming each other. There is room for each of us to be who we are just as we are. :)

Age shaming is really a sad thing for women, especially since a man seems to "mature" as he ages and thus gets treated accordingly. Children are viewed as a nice trophy for men but as a career deterrent for women. I have recently ran into this stereotypical behavior in trying to find a new job at 39 years old and reminded by well-meaning friends/family that younger women are taking those jobs. Not to mention that I don't have kids so of course my whole life will end if I don't have a baby yesterday! Fortunately, the older I get the LESS I CARE about what others think. My sweet mother-in-law told me she REALLY quit caring at 60 and my mother, who will be 72 this year, is honestly the happiest I have ever seen her. Keep you head up and remember you are amazing because of who you are, no matter what other people say.

Wait until you are 60... it really gets fun then. I’m a grand mom, mom, wife, sister, mother in law, daughter in law and most importantly, I am me. It is amazing to me how we have unlearned all of the life lessons we were taught by our parents - mainly, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. There will always be people who talk about you, behind your back and to your face. Hold your head high, you are doing the best you can. The “haters” will be there, no matter what the age you are. Just make sure to not give in to them, but to go the high road. ?

My mother told me I was too old to wear my hair down about 10 years ago. She suggested I cut it or put it up. Nope! I grew it longer.
