Why home cooked meals are better than dining in or take out

Hi there! Please note I am writing this article to point out how to save money and consider how convenience can raise your expenses, I am not implying not to eat out on special occasions but simply pointing out issues that arise when eating out. 1. Cost: the most important factor, it costs much more to eat in a restaurant (or take out). We also tend to order a drink and it is even more if it is alcoholic, say you have a steak dinner it costs roughly around $80 per person (considering the appetizers, drinks and food) and more so if you order dessert! While the same meal at home is around $12 per person. 2. Safety/ Health: When we eat food from restaurants, we have no idea what conditions the kitchen is in. It might taste good but was it made safely? If you have an allergy it is even more dangerous to eat out if the restaurant is not careful. 3. Love/Passion: Most of us, do not put this as a factor, but can you imagine a meal made lovingly by a family member (or even a friend) verses a meal made by a chef who has maybe had a bad day? What are your thoughts? Did I miss any factors?

Leftovers! Cook a batch of pasta with sauce or a pot of soup and you will have enough to take for lunches at work and dinners so you don't have to cook as often.

Agreed! And I would add the NUTRITION factor :) Typically, when we cook at home we're not overloading things with salt and butter, etc. which is very common in restaurant settings. They gotta keep you coming back for more!
