Retired

In 2008 I was let go from my 15 yrs at a company on its 3rd buy out. I made rehire at each one. Always had excellent reviews; won many awards; win trips; the sales team I supported loved me and their customers knew they could count on me even during hurricanes, severe weather, late night etc assistance. Now here’s my question: since then I haven’t been able to get an interview. I’ve wondered if when they called the company I was getting a NO REHIRE. I had turned 58 that year. Since then I moved to a very small town and got several jobs. I don’t know if they even knew how to verify. A very small town. I’ve since moved back to the big town and trying to get a part time job. Same problem. Is there anyway to find out?

I’m in the same boat dedicate myself for years working for a company. Always professional compared to my fellow co-workers who were slackers and would hide most of the day from higher ups. So when our company changed hands who do they decided to left go me! And they kept the slackers I document everything they did and everything I did but it wasn’t good enough. So I was forced into retirement and I was the only one with BA degree 3 of my fellow co-workers didn’t even have a high school diploma or a GED. So don’t tell me age isn’t a factor. And no I don’t believe you can find out what a company says about you behind your back to future employers. Plus this company had a very bad case of letting good people go, if you didn’t play their game and kiss their butt. I was not raise to do that nor was I going to do that to get ahead. I do have physical dirty on a VP there but I have been holding off stooping to their level.
