Happy to be in this group

I currently live in a small town in Illinois a big change from a mid-size city in Texas. I do have many passions and luckily my career goals are inline with them. Right now I'm currently looking for work in accounting and finance without much luck. With my disability and a few gaps in my resume many employers are unwilling to look past this yet I will keep trying. I welcome all feedback, suggestions and ideas. Happy to be involved and included in your awesome group. Denise

Hi Denise- A few suggestions: 1) Consider contract jobs or temp positions. This will also connect you to recruiters that are trying to fill positions in your area. Ziprecruiter.com is a great one. 2) Reach out to your past employers. They maybe in need of help that can be done in a remote capacity. 3) Now that everyone is working remotely, expand your search outside of your area. I have used flexjobs.com to find remote work. Best of luck and hope this helps.

Hi Denise! And welcome, this forum is amazing. My advice to you is to target a few companies in your area that you want to work for even if they aren't hiring right now. Expand your network on LinkedIn and reach out to the finance and hr professionals who work there. Attach your resume in your message too. Also, maybe your resume is not up to date. Make sure your resume is achievement based and not a to-do list. It should have figures how you decreased or increased projects you worked on. I hope that helps and good luck!
