Seeking Different Perspectives.

I've been in the role of Senior Product Line Manager for the past three years, excelling at what I do. The position was newly created in a department that wasn't established. Unfortunately, the role doesn't align with my initial expectations. The continuous budget cuts have impacted the development of new products and my satisfaction with the job. Recently, I applied for two Director positions but wasn't selected. The feedback was that I lacked visibility within the organization. Given the nature of my current position, which isn't high-profile, gaining visibility has become a challenge, especially with the complete leadership overhaul in the past six months, leading to a loss of previous relationships. To enhance my visibility, I'm contemplating a move to the Senior Program Manager position, even though it might be considered a step down. While it would entail more work, including late nights, running high-profile customer programs could significantly boost my presence within the organization. It's a choice between staying where I am, ending my day at 5 with minimal stress but limited visibility, or requesting a move to the Program Manager role, which could involve overtime and more stress but offers a chance for increased visibility and may allow for a promotion. I acknowledge the option of seeking opportunities at other companies. I do keep an eye out for good opportunities and apply to a few. However, I appreciate my current company for its pay, liking the work environment, and the convenience of a short commute. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
