Love this! Thank you for the great piece. I do want to reiterate that while receiving feedback from your boss is imperative for growth, don’t mistake proper feedback with failed leadership abilities. There are many managers that are unaware of the responsibilities of a leader and likely accepted their role for more money and an ego stroke. If your manager is belittling you, micromanaging you and doing this when you are meeting or exceeding standards, I think this is a red flag worth looking into. There are tons of people filling managerial roles with little to no training. They are following previous mentors or up line leaders and doing what they’ve seen others do. If you’re receiving regular feedback, positive and negative, this is how you will continue to grow. If it’s always negative and seems baseless, it might be time to go.
