First and foremost, sorry this is your experience. Now go, finish screaming into your pillow. An even better trick is to fill a bowl of cold water, put your face in it and scream into that, it is very therapeutic. Seriously it is and will help bring you to a calm state, I promise.
Now, it is not uncommon for folks to intentionally or unintentionally apply to jobs they are overqualified for. Get a notebook out and document specific and explicit answers to the following: 1)What is your professional knowledge, skillset and abilities and education background and years of professional experience. 2) What type of job do you want? If you have not figured this out and you are blanketly applying everywhere need to take a moment to journal and figure out what really interests you and travel back to your childhood and think of activities you liked to do that felt effortless 3) Compare your skillset to the actual jobs you are applying to.
----Depending on your answer, try to answer the 3 questions on 1) Skillset/talent/abilities, years of experence 2) What job do you want and 3) What are you applying to. Respond back and I and others can help give you tips on how to press forward.

I agree with the others about not getting discouraged...Sadly, some companies practice ageism too and assume over-qualification...but if you shorten your previous job experience to just match job description's minimum qualifications, in future applications you may have a better chance. Good luck.
