Thank you, they offer a 50% discount to the unemployed but I don't qualify since I am still employed. I could split the payments in 2 but my husband is reluctant to do that right now with our own financial situation unsettled as I worry my company may close.

I agree with Jacquelyn. Many companies went through similar cost cutting measures this year. Chances are your industry group may have a scholarship program or delayed renewal plan under the current circumstances. They also may have some "free to the public" options to keep you active until you can reinstate your membership. I do not recommend paying $2500 of your own money if your company typically covers it, especially if you are concerned about layoffs.

Call the membership person @ Org B and ask if they have any scholarships/complementary membership available. If not, ask them if they will hold the renewal rate for you. (You could even ask your local chapter president to inquire on your behalf.) Tell them your work is on spending lock down through Q2 2021. Regardless, let your membership lapse and renew when either a.)your company will pay or b.) you get laid off and actually need it. This is not a purchase you want to pay 18% interest on. Good luck!
