When I decided to step off of my huge career as Associate Publisher of Ad Age, I knew I needed to do something different, even though I didn't know what.
I thought I would get a ton of support and love from friends, co-workers and family and what I got instead was;
* You're not going to work anymore, what are you going to do with yourself?
* It's really hard to get back into your career with a big gap on your resume.
* Why would you walk away from a huge corporate salary?
* Ask to go part-time so you're not stuck if you don't enjoy being home.
At the time, I had no idea what I wanted to do next, I just knew media publishing wasn't it. However, the more people questioned my decision, the more I worried about the one I carefully made.
If I would have let their fears, jealousy, small beliefs, 'stuck-ness' weigh in on my decision...
MY TODAY WOULDN'T LOOK DIFFERENT THAN MY YESTERDAY!
Don't let other's fear, jealousy, resentment, competitiveness sway you from your big leap, your defining moment, your declaration.
What's your pivotal moment where you've had to drown out the noise of others? Have you even had it yet?
