Covid-ation

Motivating yourself to be productive can be tricky. Especially during a pandemic. When the weather is nice. And you're 17-25 years old. And not used to working from home. One idea, courtesy of The Forge Daily Tip, is this: If I could only complete one task today, what would it be? Some days you may be more ambitious than others. Regardless, try this idea and let me know what happens.

Definitely been hearing this a lot lately - focus on one task that is most important to do right now. That way you don't get caught in the paralysis of our todo list.

Paralysis is an apt description of what happens, Julie. Thanks for pointing that out.

This is a great idea! Another good related idea is create a small to-do list every day, the night before (weekends included) on a postit note. It can have work related things, fun things ("watch TV show X"), what to cook for dinner, chores ("vacuum"), etc. Make sure to include the fun things too! I make a little "smiley" next to the fun thing to draw attention to it. If your list is too long to fit on a postit note, pare it down--you'll never get more than that done per day anyway. This takes the "thinking" out what you're going to do that day and it's fun to check things off (feels so productive!).

Funny, someone else JUST told me he loves crossing things off his list. It's a visceral pleasure. I've gotten nuttier and added something I just did, then crossed it off, so all day I could see what I accomplished. Thanks for sharing this, @meggonjinn.
