Would you treat every individual the same? Are you a great teamplayer if so, why?

Every employee deserves courtesy and respect (until they prove they don't, in which case they are probably on their way out). That said, I try to learn each team member well enough to know whether they work best with verbal or written instructions; whether they needed detailed expectations and follow-up or broad deliverables and minimal supervision. When I had team members from other countries, I tried to learn enough about the culture to see if I needed to change my approach or be prepared for behaviors I wasn't used to (i.e., in some countries, it's unacceptable - even unforgivable - to identify that the boss made a mistake). The golden rule doesn't always apply. Rather than treating others how I want to be treated, I try to treat them as they want to be treated.

If you treat every individual the same, they lose their identity. I think in order to be a great team player, you need to understand how your team mates work and learn. Everyone learns differently; has different strengths. You need to be able to play off everyone's strengths and weaknesses to have a well rounded team. I do treat everyone with respect, until they give me reason not to. Hope this helps! Good question!
