Congaplex by Standard Process. It is all natural and used to only be prescribed by natural path doctors or chiropractors (who actually study nutrition, unlike regular MDs). You can now find it on Amazon like everything else. The reviews speak for themselves. I've already taken it twice in 3 months to head off colds. Kids can take the chewable version too! Works like magic if you get it right at the cusp. It also reduces sick time if you don't.

Working on your immunity throughout the year can help to give your body the boost it needs for the winter cold and flu season. By giving your gut health a boost and focusing on building up the good bacteria...you can combat cold and flu season. Regularly incorporate fermented foods like sauerkraut, kombucha, and keifer. Make homemade meat stock and add in some greens like chlorella and spirulina and drink before breakfast. If you feel an itchy throat coming on, use a clove based spray and aim it at the back of your throat several times a day...and usually the tickle will be gone within a day or two.

I can't say if this actually works, but I've become obsessed with the JUS by Julie immunity shots made of lemon, ginger and cayenne. Sometimes I'll also add turmeric.

I use elderberry extract (syrup and/or lozenges) to boost my immunity. It seems to work by my basic observation, but who knows for sure? I've made garlic broth out of a whole bulb of garlic, and then a soup from the broth (I take out the cloves I used to make the broth and add them to the soup with my garlic press) and that seems to help with colds.

I take dayquils & nyquils and also drink tea when I start feeling it. I also use hand sanitizer more often to avoid the germs being spread around.

During cold season, I really try to make sure I'm practicing my essential basic healthy habits -- getting enough sleep and eating a balanced diet.
