Suck at job, paranoid about getting fired

I work in political research. I'm new-ish to the field, at least the areas of this job in particular. I started in january and there's still basic things i suck at. I'm really bad at details and paying attention and remembering to follow through on things. I have depression and anxiety and I understand they might be in play. How do I get better at these and is it even possible to? I feel like one day I'm just going to get fired and these bad habits will just continue to follow me around.

So sorry to hear that you're having a tough time. It sounds like you're in a difficult position, and it's certainly not easy to figure out how best to handle this. A few suggestions: 1) Have you talked to your supervisor about your job performance to understand whether your feelings about your performance are reflective of how they feel? 2) Have you considered seeking a therapist or counselor to discuss these anxieties with them? 3) I don't know where you are in your career, but is it possible, if you're a relatively young employee, that some of these anxieties are also related to post-graduate dislocation and being in a new place?

Do you have someone at work who you can turn to for additional training? A manager you trust or a co-worker whose work you admire? Maybe you can talk to them and get some pointers. Also, if anxiety and depression are affecting your ability to function, find a good therapist and talk to your doctor about medication or adjusting any prescriptions you might be on.

Hello! First, so sorry you’re going through this. 2nd. It could be the stress also. Are there other things in your live that are stressing you out? Stress leads to a lack of focus and attention. That’s what happens to me. I would focus on trying to improve one thing at a time.
