No health check when returning internationally.

Hey FGB community! I hope everyone is staying safe and taking care of both your physical and mental health during this time, as well as that of others. I just wanted to check-in and share an update. My husband and I successfully made it back to the states from a South Africa trip and since new updates have been changing by the minute, we weren’t sure if we were going to make it home. Our experience making it back to NYC was very strange because we received no health check when we went through U.S. customs. What are your thoughts about this? How are you staying healthy during this time? Do you have any latest COVID-19 stories you can post to the FGB Community as well? Last but not least, the FGB Community is such a strong way to virtually keep in touch, stay connected and share conversations you’re experiencing at this time — so thank you for continuing to support and update each other and looking forward to seeing your thoughts and updates!

That makes sense. The tests are new and take 2-3 days to process, so there's no feasible way to 1) test everyone who comes in, and 2) quarantine them while the results come in. The safe thing to do now is stay at home as much as humanly possible (my lazy little heart LOVES this), reduce contact with people who may be at risk, and wash your hands.

Ha, Maggie! We were looking forward to being home so our lazy little hearts are cool with it (for the time being) as well. :)

I have friends and colleagues who have been traveling (the airlines certainly need the business--I saw one headline yesterday that said if this keeps up, many carriers will file chapter 11 before summer) and they said planes are almost empty and they have never felt safer because the planes are so clean and so are the airports.

Great point. Our plane looked like it was about 50% capacity.
