I started with a brand new start-up company in mid September. The partners did not disclose how 'start up' they were and I have spent weeks getting their state approvals, employee background checks, and have even met with the Office of the Inspector General on their behalf.
Problem is, in the weeks I've worked there, I've only gotten one full paycheck. I discussed this with the partners and they stated that they would cut me another check - which the did, for 2/3's the amount they owe me. I am now owed $6k. They are close to contract approval, which means guaranteed state funds. But how do I proceed? Do I stay? Do I keep working there? Do I withhold all their files and data until they settle up with me? I need some solid advise. I like the job. I like two out of three of the partners, and my hours and location are great. But the issue with the back pay and having to fight for my paycheck has me completely on edge.
What is your best advise??
