When was the last time you injured yourself and how did it happen?

I don’t know how it’s possible but I managed to injure myself on the stair climber. I pulled a muscle in my knee by somehow stepping up in the wrong way. I know... face palm. Because no one is perfect and honestly, it’s quite liberating to share flaws/accidents — I challenge you to take a moment and share! From broken bones to simple injuries, tell us about an injury you’ve had and the details on what happened!

Earlier this month my best friend got married. After the ceremony, we were cleaning up and I didn't have a good grip on my dress. I fell down the last few stairs while carrying a box and landed on both of my knees. I had some beautiful bruises that are just now clearing up!

I was not used to packing light, and bought a huge suitcase for 6 month trip. The first day I had a 6am flight. As I was pulling my gigantic suitcase down a short flight of stairs in the dark to a waiting Uber, I tripped. My foot hit the concrete and my suitcase landed on top. I thought the swelling and bruising would subside but it only got worse. It took me several weeks to get an X-ray and find out it was broken. Needless to say, after that I downsized my luggage.

Fell down the stairs at home & broke the fifth metatarsal bone in my foot- snapped completely in half. Needed surgery, a plate & 8 screws in the bone so it would heal. The summer of 2017 was not a fun one for me as I was stuck on crutches! Thankful it healed just fine & im able to do everything I was before, even jogging.

About a month ago, I was getting a tree out of the fence. This is laborious So I’m prying w the shovel and the tree roots are ripping and at the same time the shovel handle is breaking (only I don’t know this) and then rofl bam the handle broke and hit me in the forehead. Had a huuuugggeee swollen knot on my forehead and two black eyes as it started to heal. And a curious lady days later asked questions (thinking im abused or something) I tell her its a gardening accident, she literally rolls her eyes and says “that’s what they all say” Now I understand how it looks but honestly it was the shovel! By the way the tree is out

I have been moving house for the last 4 months. I have more bruises than I can count. At times, I have looked as though I am a battered woman! During this time, I managed to miss a step and fall down 2, while clutching something, I have no idea what. What ever it was, hit be in the sternum, and I had a bruise there! But, I was a serious dancer from the time I was 3. Injuries are part of the landscape. Pulled muscles, twisted ankles, broken toes. Um, yeah. I think I managed to get a minor concussion from turning a little too enthusiastically across stage and running into a light post! Which brings me to the crazy ways I have gotten black eyes in the past! And, did I mention that I grew up with a couple of brothers? Scars, I tell you. Scars!

Ballerina. I started taking dance classes when I was 3. I did my first stage performance when I was 6. Stopped dancing when I moved to Hollyweird (I love Hollyweird,) and the culture was to focus less on an almost academic study to GLAMOUR!!!! I also studied and performed Jazz and Modern under students of Alvin Ailey and Merce Cunningham. Now I belly dance. Because, as any serious dancer will tell you, if you are actually a DANCER, and you don't dance, you will slowly die. Or at least be a very unhappy person!

The minor injury I experienced in late April 2019 was stubbing one of my toes at the gate of a storage facility. It was very embarrassing. The employee who worked there asked me fill out an accident report. After a few minutes, I felt a lot of pain and swelling. Therefore, I had to sit down in my car while my husband was given a tour of storage facility. I had to use ice to decrease the swelling after I went home. I am glad I am no longer experiencing pain.

I recently tripped but managed to catch myself before falling, and because I was so proud of this, did a little celebratory dance in front of my girlfriend as if to say, "I totally planned this!" I then IMMEDIATELY turned around, misjudged my step on the curb, and rolled my ankle. Karma!

Doh! I've rolled my ankle a few times and I've always ended up on the ground.

I have a bad habit of falling / tripping (and also can't help to laugh when I see other people trip) but the last time it happened was while I was running between the Starbucks and my office building in the rain. I hit a puddle and ended up dumping my coffee all over the feet of two men that I worked with at the time. No major injuries - besides my ego!

I gave myself a 3rd degree burn on my forearm from a curling iron that had been on for 3+ hours! Fun times!! But really, it taught me a very valuable lesson in triple-checking that I unplug quite literally everything before leaving the house. I now have the large scar as a daily reminder. -_-
