Two under two?

Any mamas out there with two under two? How do you manage? Our little dude will be 18 months when the new baby makes her/his debut. My head is spinning trying to picture life with a busy toddler and a newborn!

I had two under two. It’s honestly insane but you’ll get used to the exhaustion. With one baby, you can nap when baby naps to catch up on zzz’s, but with a toddler and newborn...forget it. You just sleep when you can. The first month is a total blur. (At one point I took a carton of milk out of the fridge and then put it away in the cupboard.) Screw all the housework and focus on basics for yourself: eating, sleeping, bathing —and that’s it. Ask for lots of help with everything else for the first month until baby is sleeping longer through the night. Eventually their naps will coincide if you work on a nap routine and then you can actually get stuff done. Toddler will be very curious but will love to help anyway they can. Encourage it. Next is two in diapers. It gets really expensive (around $200 per month), but toddler is old enough to practice potty training at that point once baby is no longer a newborn And things aren’t so crazy, so it’s good incentive. The awesome part is how close they will be. It’ll make your heart want to burst. It’s exhausting but totally worth it. Cheers!

Love it! Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to see the two of them grow up together but those first couple of months are going to be tough! I’m really hoping our older one doesn’t drop his second nap during that time. I used cloth diapers (until we started solids) with our first so hopefully I can manage again with the second to save some money. Diapers can get crazy expensive. The additional laundry might drive me crazy though.
