Do you have a celebrity lookalike?

I relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles last year for family reasons. Since then, I’ve applied to over 70 positions, including contract roles, but have only received a handful of callbacks. I had hoped to transition into a different area within accounting, but many of these roles require several years of specialized experience. At this point, I’m exploring opportunities beyond accounting, as I need to get back to work. Are there any industries that are still open to training and developing new talent?

I recently had a first round interview for an executive assistant position and just received notification that I won't be advancing to the second round. I didn't bomb the first round, but I know I didn't do my best either, so it's fine. I wasn't even sure I wanted the job anyway, I just wanted some interview practice, which I got. But now that it's all over, I'm replaying the interview in my head and analyzing the questions that were asked, and how I could have answered them differently. I was told the questions would focus on providing examples of teamwork and problem solving, so I had multiple great examples ready to go. But instead, what I was asked were mostly questions related to how I stay organized and how I communicate with my coworkers, particularly in a remote environment. I gave boring but truthful answers - I use Google suite (docs, sheets, email, chat), I use the good old-fashioned telephone, I use Zoom for meetings, and Asana for project management. I feel like they wanted something more, but I don't know what. If what I provided wasn't enough, are there any other methods of communication and organization should I be using for administrative work?

My company is “restructuring” and layoffs are going to happen. We just don’t know when. I am actively applying to jobs and feel so discouraged because I’m getting rejected within hours or a day of applying. I previously at least reached the prescreen phase or got interviews. This is my first time getting rejected this quickly. I’ve had my resume reviewed and rewritten by a resume writer twice. I have letters of recommendation Nothing is getting me in the door. The rejections come from a do not reply mailbox so I can’t ask for feedback. I’m applying to jobs I’m perfectly qualified for- not over or under- and I tailor my resume and cover letter to the job description and research the company to include their core values in my cover letter. I don’t know what more I could do I also don’t really have a network because my network is at my current company- I did an industry switch from education to corporate, so my former network consists of teachers who can’t really help. All the LinkedIn posts that say applying to jobs won’t work because you need a referral scare me knowing I don’t have that. I feel so hopeless and like I will never find a job again. Is anyone else experiencing this with not just getting rejected but getting rejected almost instantly as if you’ve been DNQ’d without any indication of why? I wish recruiters understood what a self-esteem killer a rejection that quickly is as it tells me I wasn’t even worth glancing at.

I work at a behavioral health firm and our receptionist was verbally abused and harassed by a patient. He also threatened her. The HR Specialist had a meeting with her and pretty much told her that she wore too tight fitting clothes and that she should change her attire. The EE broke down and cried in her office. After the meeting. HR was informed that she was recording events on her phone. This also did not sit well with the CEO. HR eventually fired her, citing she was not a good fit. Thoughts?
