Three months ago the company where I worked for 5 years closed their local offices. After many interviews and being ghosted by recruiters, I have received two job offers and I don't know which one to decide. The first offer is for a Fortune 500 Company as a Financial & Analytics Analyst, lets call it Company A. The second is for a local business as a Business & Customer Insights Manager, let’s call this one Company B.
I have 15 years of financial experience and I’m finishing my MBA in Data Science. My two previous employers where Fortune 500 companies, but I was never promoted to a Senior Level position, even though I was always one of their best employees. I’m happily married and we have two small children.
Company A offer is average for the position (70k), is a 8 min drive from my home and my kids school, is a really fun industry (wine and spirits), the management is around my age(30s), diverse and inclusive. Company B offer is 6 figures, 40 min drive from home, is the same industry as my last job (engineering services), management is a lot more older, all men and caucasian, except my hiring manager that is a woman.
My husband tells me to choose Company B, he thinks I’m more than ready to be in a senior level position and this will be a huge stepping stone in my career, but I’m afraid of how my family will change because of this. I’m having Mom-guilt for a job I haven’t even decided. And if I choose Company A and get overlooked again for a promotion, I know I will be resentful for no jumping at the opportunity Company B presented.
