I work at a not-for-profit health organization. Our executive team has required us to volunteer 15 hours of our time to work at fundraising events, either during work hours or after work hours. All events are on the weekends. Is this FREE work legal to require of us? I have two small children at home and cannot commit to working at events on weekends. What worse is that the completion of these 15 hours is part of our yearly review and directly tied to receipt of annual (but very small) increases.
