Brag about yourself

Lots of women have a hard time doing this. I’ll start... I’ve been in the Price is Right and it was awesome.

Not a woman (shucks!), but I started Work Cycles (ultraworking.com) and cut back procrastination by 100%. For those who like Excel and Zoom, you’ll like this. For those who don’t..you’ll get plenty of help!

I'm a board member of the Women's Network at my job and I'm very proud of it. We also had a woman within the global network start up a new workout session called "Bragging rights". We are looking forward to incorporating this into our quarterly Hangout Sessions here in our hub!

Amazing, what's your networking secret?

Part of the secret is to get out of my comfort zone. Meeting someone completely new by introducing myself and making some quick small talk helps me feel a little comfortable and before I know it, I’ve connected with someone new. The key to networking is to continue to touch base with those individuals by having a quick coffee or meeting over lunch once a quarter.

I do the same thing. I'm in a corporate center with a few businesses so networking has become really easy for me. Not to mention hobbies or other things I am interested in. I have just met a whole bunch of locals from a food forum I started to follow and participate. We recently got together and learned how to make African food. I have met so many people just by talking to them and connecting in some way.

What's your budgeting secret??

I actually just use Excel! I put my monthly salary in the top corner and enter all my expenses from the month into one of three columns, based on the 50/30/20 rule (check it out online if you haven't heard of it!). Each individual expense is set up as an automatic formula to subtract from my monthly salary. I also list out the expenses into the appropriate row based on the type of expense (food, rent, groceries, gas, car maintenance, entertainment, etc.). This helps you visualize what types of things you spend the most money on, and where you can cut back (for me, that's eating out.) The key is to update this spreadsheet regularly (every couple days!) to hold yourself accountable and stay on track. Think of it like calorie counting! As soon as you start putting it on paper, you'll become much more cognizant of how much you're spending. Put any leftovers in an investment savings account, like Wealthfront.com! Hope this helps!
