How do i tell my sister that i hate her boyfriend?

so my sister is a very successful woman. great career, very put together, great and kind person. her boyfriend.. i thought it was a phase but theyve been dating for a year now and it doesnt look like he's going anywhere. he's got and lost 2 jobs in the year and he is drunk... all the time. she really deserves better but i think she is too nice to see his flaws. how can i let her know she should move on ?

Just be there for her. You cannot make her give him the boot. But you can help her to see that he is going to ruin her life.

Let her know you love her enough to have a difficult and uncomfortable conversation with her. Using 'hate' will more than likely create a defensive reaction immediately shutting down the conversation. Try letting her know your worries about her, share how you feel about her (the wonderful things about her- why she deserves so much more-but in other/softer words than he's a drunk... making it about HER not her drunk unemployable beau), and be curious about what's going on for her- compassionate curiosity without judgment. Even if she doesn't jump right into the conversation, she'll know the door is open and that you're coming from a place of love and compassion with her best interests in mind.

This isn't the answer you want to hear but I think it's sometimes best to have them figure it out themselves.

He's drunk all of the time? Ooof. Do you think your sister realizes that?
