Real talk...how much sleep do you get?

I recently was telling a friend that I had slept 12 hours for multiple nights in a row and she was blown away...I personally felt like my body needed it by not waking me up or setting an alarm, but her reaction made me think that maybe it was too much sleep...

I usually sleep 7-8 hours a night, I'm a mess on anything less than 6.5. If you feel like you're more tired than usual you might want to keep an eye on it and/or any additional patterns. Also ask your doctor to check your thyroid the next time you're there!

12 hours sounds like a lot to me (I usually get 5-6 hours during the week, which I know is too little!) ...but you're right that maybe your body did need it. Is 12 hours normal for you, or are you saying you slept more than usual for a few nights in a row?

Holy crap that's like what a baby or cat requires! (or a teenager). Have you ever slept with a FitBit or sleep tracker on? You may have been in bed that long, but those trackers help show you how long you were awake during those periods. I sleep 6 hours a night (wish it were more, but there's just so much to do in the day and I love working out in the early AM).
