Boyfriend grinds his teeth at night!

Hi all! My boyfriend is a teeth grinder and I've been asking him to see a dentist, but he keeps pushing it off. Are there other remedies to help him with this? I'm worried he is messing up his teeth, so I want to tell him to at least get a mouth guard from the drug store. Anyone deal with this before? Not going to lie, I also want the teeth grinding to stop because it wakes me up in the middle of the night.

My BF also grinds his teeth sometimes! He went and got a super cheap mouth guard from Target and it helps so much! We noticed he only does it when he's stressed out about something so he's been meditating a lot more, although completely avoiding stress is unrealistic so he definitely keeps his mouth guard nearby! Best of luck!

My dentist fashions (expensive) mouth guards, but at least they fit well and prevent/reduce damage to the teeth, plus dental insurance defrays at least some of the cost. Strongly suggest that your BF look into a custom mouth guard. Would be wary of drugstore variety, as this can damage the bite. As for GF: are earplugs an option for you?

Good sleep is essential to your health. Let him know that his teeth grinding wakes you up and you aren't able to get good sleep, therefore you will need to sleep in separate beds. This is not a threat, just a consequence of his choices. It's important that you follow through. Then it is his choice what he wants to do about it.

Sorry was going to suggest a mouth guard, but you've already thought of that. Is he stressed/ anxious at all? Meditation might help in that case......
