The "Lone Wolf" at The Table

I went to a career/networking discussion this AM, and quickly realized I was the only one who doesn't work in an office or for a company. I WFH and have remote clients. Does this seem weird that I'm the "lone wolf"? Should the attendance been more balanced, or am I too sensitive? Curious about your thoughts.

Yes - you're right, and after today's discussion, a THANKFUL entrepreneur. I appreciate your POV and will be more careful about group dynamics.

I don't think you are being sensitive, I do believe you might be looking for something different than the group you attended offers. Your comment that you have "remote clients" makes me think you are not an employee but rather an entrepreneur. That right there makes you a lone wolf but a very valuable one. I think the question you need to ask yourself is what do you want to get out of networking events? Being the lone wolf might make you very welcome as you can offer the group a different lens to look through and they can offer you the same. Conversely, if you are looking for like minded people who can help you with skills that are geared more towards sole proprietorship then you might want to look for a different group as this group might be focused on areas that are not relevant to you. Good Luck!
