What song do you listen to on repeat when working (if you do at all)?

I went through a phase where all I listened to was Green Onions by Booker T. & the MG's when I wanted to get something done; when I planned yoga classes, it was the first Glass Animals album. Now, I listen to one, specific DJ set on SoundCloud. Do you have a certain song? If so, what is it!?

I have 3 slightly different versions of a "Get Pumped" Playlist that all range from oldies to new and rock to country. But my favorites are Losing My Religion (cover) by Wonder Years, Mama's Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert, No Roots by Alice Merton, and Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man.

I'm a old fuddy duddy - never heard of these artists but will now check them out. Can't listen to music when I write, but I do listen to nature sounds when I edit.

I love all kinds of music (jazz, gospel, RnB, little country, etc.), and it depends on my mood as to what song i consider "repeatable" that day. Three examples are: 1) Show Me the Way (ft Raphael Saadiq) by Earth Wind & Fire - when I'm in a 'jammin' love' kind of mood [https://bit.ly/2QEFdnJ], 2) Your Love Is by Fred Hammond when I want to be encouraged by God's love for me [https://bit.ly/2XAOwGu], and 3) Life After Death by John Lunn & The Chamber Orchestra of London. If you're a Downton Abbey fan, this is a MUST listen. When I feel like I want to just FEEL the music and swept away, this is one of my faves! [https://bit.ly/34aCXbN].

I'm going to check out all of these but I started with the Downton Abbey one and my heart is already soaring. Fantastic way to start a dreary Friday morning (here in TN).

I couldn't agree more! After I posted it, I put it on repeat for about 12x! Glad you love it, too! :o)

I listen to music all day every day to focus at work. I like a post-rock instrumental playlist on Spotify with bands like Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros & The Album Leaf. Or, I listen to a synthwave/chillwave playlist with bands like Masarati, Washed Out, Gunship. Or if it's a rough day, I listen to High Violet by The National on repeat, so I can feel human feelings again.

I work as an enterprise content strategist remotely by day, and teach private yoga four nights a week, so I can relate to the duality of Green Onions and Glass Animals, and the need for different music to fit the circumstances. In fact, "Gooey" by Glass Animals is on what has become *the* favorite yoga playlist among all of my clients! Lately, as tensions have been ramping up on the day job, I've had a soothing instrumental piece from a meditation app on repeat, literally for weeks. Other times I listen to a music radio podcast that I have come to love, that often includes everything from hip hop to jazz, samba, and more. I'm also blessed to have many musician and DJ friends with music curated on various platforms, so I never get bored. If not listening to music, similar to another poster, I sometimes have the news on in the background while I work. As a former journalist that still turns out an article or two on an occasional basis, I'm a confessed news junkie and like to stay up on what's happening in the world. No matter what I'm listening to, it's not unusual for me to take a dance break or two in between meetings and other tasks, just to shake off the stress of the day - and/or get ready for a night of dancing with friends when Friday comes!

That's a good question! Sometimes it's the news (I'm a political junkie) or I found this site Mixcloud and it has a gazzilion dj's and set lists. So I just go there, it's been fun to hear new music with my other favorites.

Most welcome! The matador label is who had picked cat power up back in the day, the album “free” is one of her best I still feel

Awesome. I saw Catpower in Austin, TX in 1996. She was touring for 'What Would the Community Think' and it was one of the most memorable show I've ever seen. She asked the club to turn off all lighting and the audience to sit down. We sat and listened in the dark. I was about 17 and (circling back to FGB) it was the first time I saw a woman (and a peer) completely command an audiences attention. I know Chan had her issues, but it made a big impression.
