Hi everyone I am in need of some advice! With black history month coming up i would like to highlight and raise awareness about some of the amazing accomplishments and struggles that Black people have encountered over the years. How do you shed light and highlight this in your offices?

My experiences have been to magnify the historians who are lesser known. A daily blurb about each person gives perspective.

I am leading the charge at my company in coordination with a couple other employees - the consensus from our Black employee resource groups is a preference to focus on profiling leaders and important people within our industry this year. There has been a lot of important conversations around the struggle and legacy of slavery, etc so there was a general feeling that it would be uplifting to have a slightly different tone.
We are posting a daily and weekly "someone you should know about" from the past 50 years leading up to today. Every day someone in our little workgroup will write up a small blurb about a Black American who is a leader in our industry. Each week we are focusing on more recent decades leading into the present - so the last week will be profiles of contemporary Black Americans.
Hope this helps and good luck! Very good that you are doing this!

Similar to what Emily stated above, we are highlighting black figures and accomplishments throughout history on curated digital vision boards. The boards were created by our African American employee resource group (ERG). Our communications department is also making a digital poster for that will be shared on our social media platforms. Our Engagement, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED+I) Office is hosting a panel discussion, they have not released the topic yet. Lastly, we recommend books about African Americans and/or written by African Americans. I hope this helps.
