Is it worth it to wear makeup back at work?

I've just been told I'll be back at the office on a part-time basis! I'll have a mask on when passing others in the office, but when I can distance at my desk I won't need to wear one. My question then becomes...should I wear makeup back at work? While I'm excited to go, I've kind of lost my entire makeup/fashion work routine while working from home. I love how easy it is to get ready for work without it, but I'm a little worried I'll be judged if I don't return to what I was doing before.

I wear eye makeup and concealer under my eyes. It gets the mask too dirty and can be hard to get out if I put anything on my face.

To make up or not to make up? I agree you should do what makes you comfortable. I'd recommend trying a few different routines (if you can find the time). I've been in the office quite a few times now and can tell you the mask covers most of my face, but not my eyes, which is why I always wear mascara. I smile at work a lot--the eyes always show it. That said, I did just see an FGB story about makeup and its weight in the workplace. Be happy and successful.

Makeup should be a personal choice unless you work for a makeup company or you are in front of a camera for a living. That being said, makeup should also be worn if you are in the mood to present yourself in that manner, any given day you could not want to present yourself in makeup and it's more than OK.

Girl, you do you! I've been in the same boat - didn't wear makeup at all while at my office when it was closed, and not sure if I feel like starting that back up again now that we're fully open. If you're not feeling it, don't do it! If you're feeling it and want to dress up more, go for it! Don't worry about what other people may think. There are days when I'm feeling lazy and my outfit and makeup reflects that... there are also days when I'm feeling pretty and feel like dressing up more! You are allowed to switch it up if you want! Definitely don't base your decision off of whether or not your coworkers or clients or whoever will approve or judge you. Do what makes you feel happiest :) you are BEAUTIFUL either way!!!!

Definitely not lipstick! And unless your foundation doesn't transfer, I would pass on that as well or you will have a mask that is dirty and not doing its job. :)

Its sounds like everyone has the same idea, you should do whatever makes you happy. There aren't any fashion/makeup police at work waiting to confirm that your looks and body temperature pass the test to get in the door. Though this is a good question i am sure has been on others minds, the reality is no one will notice but it may be just for you. :)

I'm enjoying how my mask hides my old lady mustache hairs :) Given what we've all been through this year, I seriously doubt anyone will pay 3 seconds to analyze your makeup (or not) routine. Take it as a chance to do something new. Plus wearing a lot of make up will just get rubbed off with the mask and then you'll really look weird.

You should do what makes you feel happy. If wearing makeup is what you want to do, then wear it.

You will be surprised at the amount of change that people in your workplace will have undertaken in the time they have been away from the office. What makes you happy and feel the most confident you can is the key here. How about you take your makeup with you, and if you feel uncomfortable with the choice you made when getting ready for work you can quickly put some on.

This is fantastic advice. We have all gone through so many changes and priority shifts in the last several months in both our personal and professional lives. Be kind and patient with yourself as you readjust to life back in the office and know that you are not alone in navigating a new normal.

I find that my mask takes off most of my face makeup, so I just focus on eye makeup, not heavy, but a little.
