Dreading airport traffic!

I'm flying during the holidays and seriously dreading the airport crowds. Tips to reduce stress at the airport?

Listen to some nice soothing song or your favorite ones... That will take you to a different world away from the crowd :p

Arrive early so you are at your gate in plenty of time. Realize that you are not the only one stressed out and if possible, offer some help. Take a deep breath, you got this.

I go early so that I have the peace of mind of being through security. Then, I find a nice restaurant - there is a steak/dinner club-ish place at my local airport and you go in and can't tell you are in the airport. I give myself time to have a nice meal and a glass of wine and read.

Breathe, and know that the stress and effort of getting on the plane, are temporary. The destination is the thing right? Yay for friends, family, and holiday cheer! All the craziness of travel is just what's so. There's little to do about it than accept it as it's own crazy little event. Play a game - look for everyone with a suitcase 'too big" for a carry-on, or how many dogs are in the airport, or how many people are wearing pajamas! Look around and see what you see, and then write it down or dictate it into your phone, so you have a "craziest things at the airport" list to share later, once you're at your destination and sipping a hot toddy (or margarita! or Diet Coke LOL). Enjoy and happy holidays!!!

You may not have time to do this before the holidays, but I recently got TSA Pre-Check and it's an absolute game changer. You don't have to take off shoes or light jackets, or remove your laptop from your bag. The entire security process hasn't taken me more than 10 minutes since I got pre-check. It's easy to apply and not super expensive (~$85 for 5 years).

Booking flights that aren't around rush hour helps if you're driving! Although, I'd imagine you already booked your flight?

Yup, already booked unfortunately!
