Senior Financial Analyst Roles in Austin, TX

What is the best way to land a job in a new city? I moved a few months back and in need of a new job. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I’m in a similar line of work and also moved to a new city where I had no contacts. Apply, apply, apply. If you’re not getting invitations to a phone interview, then your resume needs work. I checked LinkedIn, indeed, and zip recruiter pretty much daily (sign up for email alerts). Google major employers in your city and check their careers site and sign up for email alerts there too. Reach out to recruiters specializing in your field on LinkedIn — I had very little luck with them, but your experience might differ. Follow up with them every two weeks unless they ignore you each time. Check meetup and google for professional networking events - also limited success with this one but I did make some acquaintances. Good luck!

Although I understand that there are a lot of mixed feelings about employment agencies, I have had the amazing pleasure of working for the absolute best recruitment agency I've ever found. During my own job search before I started, I was approached by so many recruiters and learned the hard way that not all of them have dedicated contracts with the client or the job they're trying to find someone for. So I think, with the right agency, this can be a great situation. I would always ask if they have a contract with the client to ensure that they aren't using you as bait, and don't hesitate to ask questions about the culture and insist on meeting with the company if they don't provide that option. The recruiter's where I work are absolutely phenomenal people and they care more about long-term placements and happiness than Revenue which has created a lot of Revenue! Crazy how that works! LOL! So as long as you do your homework I was just mentioning the option of a recruitment agency. Early in my life, I got my first job through a recruiter, went to one interview and I ended up working there for three years. It was amazing and that started me in Human Resources. When I left that job I went back to the agency and told them what I wanted and they found me another job and after two or three places, the best part is you get to figure out if you love it or not, I found a great place and stay there for 7 year! So while I understand that a lot of people don't look kindly upon recruitment agencies, I've had great experiences. Best of luck to you and congrats on your move!

Also Glassdoor and careerbuilder but you’ll see that many employers advertise on each so not as many unique listings
