That was my exact question a few years ago. I never did get an answer for myself and it did not bother me any. I was two years away from collecting Social Security and my pension was coming in and l was going to be ok. So for you, you need to ask your self what are looking for, just something to make money to meet living expenses, or a career fulfillment that you put on hold, is this something you have always dreamed about doing? Your intentions play a part in your presentation and expectations. I strongly believe if you need a job to meet obligations and responsibilities you must be applying everywhere. If you are pursuing something in particular, check out the competition. The companies may want new blood to invest in. They are not hold your age against you. Did you ever think of temp services? You can get your foot in the door of various companies, try them out on long term assignments and in many cases companies will hire the temp worker directly. Their reasoning is that they know the person and the person already knows the job. It is a good fit otherwise the person would not be there. Don't give up, there is one out there for you. Keep looking and when you walk in for an interview or even cold calling, have a very positive attitude and look as you walk in. You got this.
