5 Realities of Being a Latina in Corporate America
What an interesting read at this moment in my life. As I dig deeper into my Sociological path in education, I begin to see this more and more. Even though I was born and raised in a predominantly white area of the U.S. (Norwalk, CT.) I am still Latina. My name says it, my physical features say it...but that doesn’t make me less intelligent, less capable of doing an amazing job for a company. But at times it does set limitations for me and I am once again seeing that since I am actively on the job market. Just seeing many of my peers that I have noticed that are not as engaged in their education or eager to begin their careers, however, still land these amazing opportunities in some of the top corporations in the country and the world. This is why I will continue to work harder, continue to take that extra step than others, and the day I land the opportunity in my dream job I will NOT forget about all the other “Emmys” out there that have worked, cried, sacrificed so much to be successful, but seem to stay invincible in the eyes of many.
