Short-Term Health Insurance

I didn't realize I would have a gap in my health insurance between my old job (coverage ended 8/31) and my new job (started 9/3 but seems coverage will start 10/1). Any recommendations for what to do in the meantime? My new boss is looking into getting me on the plan but can't make promises. I mostly need to be covered just in case, and need to renew my birth control prescription in the next week or so.

If you Google short-term health insurance, you'll find many providers that can cover gaps. However, most health insurance plans have a waiting period before you can use your insurance. It might be necessary to "self insure" for the next 30 days; i.e., pay full price for services until the new insurance kicks in.
