I just cut dessert out of my diet...

I recently cut "sweets" out of my diet and I am feeling so empowered that I finally kicked my addiction to sugar. I also lost five pounds in ten days because of it, which really made me realize how much sugar I was consuming. I basically stopped using it as a reward after a hard day or a job well done (which was most days) or as a social outing. I now reward myself with something non-food based, and go for walks instead of grab an ice cream with a friend. Anyone else trying to cut dessert out of their lifestyle?

That's impressive! I noticed a lot of the things that I don't consider desserts to have a lot of sugar within them. Ex: I love RX bars.. but the sugar makes me question if I should continue eating them.

Ah, interesting. I am not familiar with Rx bars. I had a problem with "treats" so I am working on that first - ha! I haven't even looked at sugar in "real" food.

Wow, I'm inspired! ALL sweets?? So curious, what do you crave the most? I'm not sure if I could decline chocolate. In fact I don't know if I'd be a nice person without it. ;)

Haha - Basically yes, I dint stop eating sugar in real food, just "dessert" like candy or cake. I used to reward myself with Sees candy or a cookie or ice cream. They are just THERE and DELICIOUS, and it gave me a reason to take a break from work or "treat" myself in the evening. I just had to look at rewarding myself differently. It's been interesting. I couldn't kick it until I realized I just needed a reward. (I am sure this is just terrible social training we have received since we were kids). I am seriously so excited to have the pull gone!

I don't think I could ever cut dessert out of my diet but respect the choice!

I always try to decline sweets at the office, but my guilty pleasure is carbs. So maybe I'll take a cue from you there!

That’s amazing!!! I haven’t tried to cut out desserts but I did try to limit items with added sugar for awhile which was challenging.
