I've often seen the tip of getting cash back when grocery shopping. I'm not sure your situation exactly, but often when women are in controlling or abusive relationships (again, not sure if this applies to you!) the husband doesn't allow the wife to work or have control over money. If you get cash back while grocery shopping, when he checks the bank account it just looks like you bought food. $20-$40 per shopping trip will add up nicely for a little stash if you ever do need to get out. There are also tons of resources for mothers and their children - I wish you all the best!

So....this happened to me. And yes, you need to have some money set aside that only you can access just in case the worst happens unexpectedly. I work online from home as a freelance writer and I always recommend that as a way to make money, although it's not necessarily quick. I agree with the other posters about Uber and Lyft. I'd also suggest selling things you don't need if that's an option to get a little emergency stash of money going. But definitely look into work you can do online if that's something you're interested in. If you can lay the foundation for that now then it's a lot easier to make it into a full-time business if you become a single parent (which is what I did).

Along the same lines, driving for Postmates is a great way to make cash quick! It also avoids having strangers in your car :)

If you have a car, driving lyft or uber could help out. Especially when the kids are in school.

It's hard work but waitresses can make good money through tips. Or seek out a job online that you can do working from home so you can still be with your kids.
