Career Coaching.. Does it really work?

Hello Ladies! I would like to know your opinions about hiring a career coach. Have any of you been successful at finding your dream job with coaching? Do you think it really makes a difference? I am 37 year old lawyer, a human rights specialist, and have an unfulfilling full- time job in the justice system. I am trying to find out how to make a career change: My dream job is to work remotely as a consultant / researcher for a business with social impact or an international organization. I have the qualifications and skills and I am sure I have the passion... But I just can´t find my way. What are your insights on this? Thank you!!!

Career Alignment Coach for Millennial Women here so I might be a bit biased on the pros of using a career coach ? but on a personal note, I loved having a third party perspective just to help with bouncing ideas off someone else. I worked with a life coach to decide what I wanted to do next in my career and it was an amazing experience. I'd just suggest making sure that you connect with the coach. A lot of coaches (and myself) do 30 minute intro or strategy calls to get clear on if you're a good fit to work together on both sides.

I second this making sure you connect with the career coach or life coach. It's important to not jump in with a coach you don't mesh with. Keep looking until you both agree you're a good fit for eachother, based on your goals and motivation and the amount of work you want to put into improving yourself to improve (or change) your career.

Coaching is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself (not because I am one but because I also have one). Coaching can provide you with clarity and strategy for what lies ahead. When we're stuck, it can become very difficult to see what's next for us, everything seems overwhelming and impossible. A good coach will uncover what you want, break down your tasks and give you clear, definitive steps to get you to your goals. I made a career transition 6 years ago, after running a media brand for years I left the entire industry to find something with purpose. The journey was enlightening and uncomfortable but on the other side there's a tremendous rainbow! Good luck!

I had such a great experience using a coach for my career that I was able to get two promotions in 4 years. One to VP level and the other to C-Suite level. You will need to do some of the mental work but it is totally worth it. After finding this amazing success for myself, I got my certification so that I do the same for others.

Yes, a career coach can definitely help with these things. Search online for a career coach in your area, narrow down the list, and then contact them directly and ask if they have experience helping people in your field and with your goals. If not, move on to contacting the next one. Soon you will find the career coach you connect with best and then you can hire them and be on the way to finding the job you want.

I would definitely recommend a career coach. The coaching process will help you uncover what exactly drives you, understand why you are finding yourself in an unfulfilling position and work towards building a career and life you want. Highly recommend coaching.
