I was laid off 6 months ago. 7 years with my company, several promotions, great reviews, late 50’s. Company has a bit of financial uncertainty and does a layoff, but everyone laid off was over 50 and I was the oldest and only women, also only women in the senior management team. Hard not to feel singled out.
I have tried so hard to keep spirits up, but this pandemic has made it so hard. I have never applied to so many jobs or been out of work for so long. I have had as many as 11 virtual interviews and came in 2nd place. I was told some employers in my area are getting 1000 resumes per opening. The stress is killing me, I am the bread winner, I have a disabled retired husband that I feel like I am letting down.
I have a 3rd interview tomorrow that looks promising, but I am trying not to count my chickens. It is with the CEO, not sure how many he is interviewing for the final decision. Any suggestions to wow the CEO (not reporting to him, more of a courtesy meet and greet and final meeting).
