For those who have been part of a hiring decision process: Do you read candidates' cover letters? I've spent so long writing them to fit each position and always read them when I was on the other side, but I've had others tell me they never read them and that they're pointless, even in the writing/editing field, which bugged me! What do you think? Does it depend on the industry? Just the person? Or do most people truly not care much about them at all?
