This might be the last thing on everyone's mind, but...are you wearing nail polish??

I've seen posts about outfits and hair, but I wanted to ask about nail polish! I usually paint my nails because I have a terrible nail biting habit, but I do like how it looks (and it makes me feel a little more put together). Are you painting you nails? If so, what color - I've heard you're supposed to do lighter colors for spring but I think anything goes right now.

I usually do different colors on my hands and feet. As I have gained a little more confidence, I have shifted from light metallics to burgundy, wine, or plum on my hands. I have seen some managers wear bright neon, which signals to me, truly everything goes and can still be professional. While I don't like neon colors, I do like some of the darker blues/metallic blacks, and usually mix my shades together.

I had powder gel nails for a while (a light beige color) - they were long, a bit pointy and I really liked how put together they made me feel (and they made me feel taller as I'm a bit diminutive). I really looked forward to my regular manicure and pedicures and I won't lie I miss them. For now, I had them super short - I had to cut them and the gel was growing out and separating. Right now they are a dark pink, like my toes. They're fine for the short term, but I can't wait for it to be safe for my salon to open again. Yes there is the vanity aspect, but there is the self-care aspect I miss. I have chronic pain and I didn't realize how much my regular grooming helped me, not just emotionally (I may feel like crap but I look good) but physically, the massaging really helped. But for now, I'm doing my best and painting them myself

Good grief, this is a popular post! Whodathunkit! I have to keep my nails short because I play a mandolin, but I miss having a pedicure- I like a French style-- can't do that myself so I use a light pink polish. Silver is nice too.

I normally don't wear nail polish regularly, or if I do, I wear a really light or neutral color. However, during quarantine, I actually have time to do my nails, so I'm having fun with darker shades.

I used to get bad ridges in my nails from thyroid issues. Now that those are straightened out (literally!), I can paint my nails again and it's great. I'm known around these parts for makeup and nails anyway. My fave make is Sinful Colors. They're a division of Revlon and known for their bright fashion colours. My nails are often black (goth, after all), but right now they're a bright sky blue. It's SC's 'Sail La Vie.' I have strong pink/blue tones in my skin--almost purple, because I'm very very fair--so other than black and silver, and the occasional lead grey when I can find it, I stick to bright reds, blues, and purples. Burgundy suits me well, too. I just have to watch it because my fingertips are a HUGE eczema zone for me. That's when clobetasol cream (it's a topical steroid) and heavy moisturizers work well. Nail polish won't aggravate it at all, and this is a good thing.

I've been on a bender eating my nails.... it's an anxiety habit (not eating, just biting...) and finally gave myself a manicure. Light purple nails, dark purple toenails. Feeling better about myself today! More put together...

I've been using Color Street nail polish strips. Love it. Easy peasy. No fuss. Lasts for 2 weeks. They're actually growing and have helped curb the nail biting.

Let me start by saying that I totally respect and appreciate your decision to do whatever you want to do with your nails - paint, don't paint, grow out, keep trim, etc. For me, I've been keeping my nails very short, and without polish for as long as I can recall. Mainly because I play piano, and it is much easier that way. Now for my venting: I had a co-worker tell me once that I absolutely must have a manicure, with long "elegant" painted nails if I wanted to look "professional" in the office. I told her about keeping them short for piano, to which she replied, "Yeah, but how often do you play piano, really?" So, her idea of what "looked professional" trumped my desire to play piano after hours. I was absolutely blown away. First, because I didn't agree with her about the absolute necessity of long painted nails. Secondly, that my love of playing piano was so trivial to her. Thank you for listening. I've waited years to get that off my chest.

Long "elegant" painted nails to look professional? Sorry, your co-worker is wrong. If you are on a computer at work, it's difficult to type correctly with long nails. I'm always having to trim mine otherwise my nails hit a key before my finger does and I'm constantly correcting what I am typing. And playing the piano is awesome! That is something I would love to do.

I buff my nails. I get a blue, white and gray buffer from Sally's beauty. You use the gray side first then the white side . It makes them very shiny and pretty to me plus you do not have to worry about chipping the color since there is none.

I feel like I can think outside the box a little and be more gutsy with color choices now that I’m working from home without in person board meetings. This could be a small silver lining :) I feel I am terrible at doing my own nails though!
