Toxic Relationships at Work

Hi! I'm in the final phases of research for my newest leadership book - It Takes Two To Tangle, Managing Toxic Relationships in the Workplace. I'm looking for great stories of leaders who have overcome (corrected/worked beyond) a bad boss or a bad employee. Any suggestions/stories you'd like to share??

I had a boss who had no idea how to build a team. He was not toxic, just needed some help to get started. He also had his own workload for a difficult customer which got in the way at times. I would keep a list of things the teams were needing and went to him a couple times a week. He was a stop by to get answers, not respond to email (which for some reason was others way to continually respond when he didn’t reply to the first request). I also encouraged him to hold team meetings, which he started doing monthly. He supervised people with 3 different functionalities so out meetings were all team and soft skilled focused. It took about six months for him to get in the groove. He ended up being a great supervisor. He had a group with a couple challenges and started visiting with them each morning which drastically reduced the drama. He was also great at helping others look to the future and providing growth opportunities.
