I’ve pretty much been out of work since last Halloween. In that time I’ve tried different careers in medical information management and with a large housing construction development company. Neither Industry I’ve ever had any experience at all in and I made that perfectly clear.
The first one, I hated and my commute was an hour. The second one, I was 1.5 months in and starting to get my grove on in and they fired me because I used to much paper. I went from everything on paper to zero paper, and though it was hard, I had cut back. Management and the partners seemed pleased and kept telling me it would be a year or two before I really understood it. I’d had a performance review the week before - everything was fine! Then out of the blue - bam - fired in the middle of the day on a damn Thursday, and I still had to go to my daughter’s band concert. I asked why, and they said I wasn’t a good fit. I got along with everyone, it was a great office. The day before I even got invited to the Christmas party. I was on a 3 month probationary period, and they didn’t even give me 2.
Before I was laid off last year due to budget cuts I NEVER had a problem finding a job. I’d send in a resume, get an offer, negotiated salary, and boom - had a job.
I can’t move due to my kid’s father (I will lose custody if I move - even in state), and I live in a rural area.
I just want a job I don’t hate, my own desk, and the ability to support my family. I’m going to lose my house because taxes are due next month and I have zip. Working is the only thing I’ve ever been good at and now it appears suck at that too. Help
