What do I do?

Hello Ladies I am a wife and mother of 2. I have experience in security, customer service , pca, and management. I’ve had ok jobs but I need more I want a career. The fact that I have a criminal record keeps being my setback. Being honest is always good but how good is it when you tell employers and you don’t get the jobs you deserve? What do to I’m trying but feeling hopeless? I’m not the same person anymore ?

Please hang in there because things WILL get better for you!! Google "your state reentry programs" and see what comes up. We have a lot of resources--reentry programs--for people who were incarcerated. I hope that your state does too!!

Would you consider a job in construction or building facilities? I find this field tends to be more forgiving to folks who have a less than perfect record. Facilities Coordinator or Assistant Project Manager would be good entry roles.

Hi Latoya, thank you for sharing this, perhaps there is a way to work with other women who have been incarcerated? I think many women's shelters, rehabilitation and advocacy organizations would welcome the knowledge and first hand experience you have. Are you able to perhaps get some additional training and/or education/classes in an area you'd like to pursue?
